Thank you for taking the time to read through my website.
The QuietLife Group was established by our family to pursue a group of related objectives as we live out our understanding of the purpose of a Christian life, the answer to the question “What are we saved for?”.
On a foundation of Relationships, Redemption and Rest, we pursue Wisdom, Work, and Wonder as we live a life of obedient love as loyal citizens of Jesus Christ's kingdom.
Phrased differently, it is the life long quest to live out a quiet life as identified in 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12:
9 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
At its core, the idea driving the QuietLife Group is that life, work and the world of business can and should be reimagined through a biblical lens that is based on the four chapter gospel that represents the holistic biblical story (creation, fall, redemption, renewal).
In particular, the addition of the first chapter (creation) and the last chapter (renewal), adds dimensions to our understanding of work that breathes life into the purpose of work and business in God’s kingdom.
It is our conviction that in a country like South Africa, a country of great disparities in every aspect of its makeup and with a dark history that replaced equality of man with an idolatry of race, a deep understanding of Jesus and his kingdom is required to start redeeming South African culture and people for God’s glory.
The key issue is man’s heart gone awry and thus any ‘social impact’ attempts to fix education or poverty that do not start with the right heart will inevitably create a new type of inequality and idolatry.
Finally, we are under no illusion that these problems are solveable in our lifetime, nor are they problems that can be fully solved until the return of Jesus who will come and set all things right. It is our honour to be God’s hands and feet in the temporary fallen version of this world and we are happy to plant trees whose fruit we will not eat until Jesus’ kingdom is fully revealed.
